David Walter, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Torridge and West Devon, commented: “With the General Election likely to take place on the same day as the County Council elections, I am delighted to have nine very experienced, hard-working and able running mates in the nine divisions which make up this constituency. Local people know that Liberal Democrats work all year round for them at every level of Government.”

Humphrey Temperley, County Council prospective candidate for Bideford South and Hartland, added: “This is a newly created county division. I am much enjoying meeting the people who live here and hearing their views, so that I can serve them as well as possible.”

Len Ford, County Council prospective candidate for Northam, added: “With my experience as a Torridge District Councillor, I know the difficulties which many people face in Northam, Appledore, Orchard Hill, and Westward Ho! I believe I can make a real difference for them by representing them at county level.”

Des Shadrick, County Councillor for Holsworthy Rural, said: “It is a great privilege to represent the people of this area on the County Council. There is much more that we can do to help regenerate this area. I believe that if Liberal Democrats are elected to the county council in greater numbers, we can make a real difference.”
