Welcome for Holsworthy College InvestmentDevon Funds New Science and Technology BlockWednesday 13 May 2009 Local Parliamentary Candidate, Adam Symons, has welcomed Devon County Council's commitment to fund a new science and technology block at Holsworthy Community College. Holsworthy Community College is a specialist technology college, and has previously secured standards fund grant to improve their specialist facilities. The school had completed the first phase of the capital scheme but had insufficient resources to complete the final phase, the finalising of three science and two design technology laboratories. Devon County Council has provided £450,000 to complete the building, support their specialist project and help promote economic activity. Adam Symons said: “I am very pleased that Devon County Council has supported the college. I worked with the late Des Shadrick and the College's headmaster to encourage Devon County Council to provide this funding, and am so pleased that this is the case. When I visited the college last year, it was clear that it was in desperate need of new science facilities. Well done to Holsworthy Community College for all its hard work in pulling this together.”
Note: Notification was provided of the decision of the Executive Member for Children and Young People's Services in relation to approval for a capital contribution towards a project at Holsworthy Community College funded from unallocated contingencies within the CYPS capital programme. |
