Adam Symons The Lib Dem Local Party agreed that Adam should take on the mantle to ensure that the voice of Liberal Democracy is heard across the constituency. Adam said: “I am pleased that the local party has shown faith in me. Torridge and West Devon still needs a full-time voice defending the interests of the people. I will continue to stand up for those who need a voice, and show people what a local hard-working representative can achieve.” “These are difficult times for many local people. The former Government has left our finances in a mess. We need to make difficult decisions, but at the same time protect those people who have the most need. Our job is to moderate and find a balance between necessary budget reductions and the need for investment in infrastructure and public services.” “I will continue to be the voice fighting for a fairer, freer and greener future for the people of Torridge and West Devon. This is my home, and I want to see people thrive here.” Note: Adam has been appointed as the Parliamentary Spokesman until a selection contest for a new Parliamentary Candidate for Torridge and West Devon can be held. Due to expected boundary changes, this position is likely to be vacant until 2013.
