At the Party’s conference Cllr Alison Clish-Green chatted with Olympic athlete Jonathan Edwards about ways to attract a team to West Devon, which has been approved as a training camp area. Alison told Jonathan “We desperately need to attract funding if we are to be successful in getting a team to train in West Devon. It would be a real boost for West Devon if we succeeded.” Cllr

Not Happy With Core Strategy ProposalsLocal People’s Views Must Be HeardThursday 16 September 2010 Tavistock Lib Dems councillors joined protesters to ensure that local people’s views are heard. Cllr Alison Clish-Green said, “We know we need a Core Strategy but we are not happy with the proposal for 750 houses in one place creating a suburb on the edge of Tavistock. We think the location and distribution should be looked at again.”
Councillors joined
protesters outside the council offices to demonstrate their
views against proposed development. Cllr Adam Bridgewater, who is also West Devon’s Heritage champion said, “The proposed development would be detrimental at this site; we need to safeguard Drake’s birthplace and the Crowndale Valley.” Cllr Kirstie Clish-Green added, “When I won the recent by-election in Tavistock South, people on the doorstep were telling me that they didn’t want our beautiful market town changed for ever by the proposed urban sprawl.” Adam Symons, Parliamentary Spokesman for Torridge and West Devon said: “Only Lib Dems Councillors are listening to what the public are saying. The housing is too much and in the wrong spot. We will continue to campaign to make sure that West Devon change the plan, as it spells disaster for Tavistock.”
