Yes to Fairer VotesGetting InvolvedA Message from Adam SymonsSeveral members have asked me how they can get involved in the Yes to Fairer Votes campaign, which will be decided in a referendum on May 5th. There are many ways which you can help in the campaign - some of which I have listed below. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to change the voting system so that it is fairer and allows everyone to vote for the person they want to (rather than encouraging tactical voting) - so whatever you think about politics at the moment - this is a chance to change it for the better. This list is not exhaustive - for more ways of helping go to www.yestofairervotes.org.uk. Ways in which you can get involved and give support: (1) You can donate money to the campaign at Yes to Fairer Votes. (2) We will be putting YES articles in our FOCUS - you can help to deliver them - contact our Local Party Organiser by email or telephone (see left) if you want to help. (3) You can deliver specific YES leaflets - see Yes to Fairer Votes for details. You can also contact your local organiser where there is one. Details from our Local Party Organiser. (4) You can write to you local newspaper or phone up radio Devon and give your views. (5) You can become a local organiser yourself - look on the Yes to Fairer Votes website. (6) You can make phone calls for the YES campaign - just contact David Robinson on 07557035506 or by email . I have spent some time making calls for the YES campaign and it is interesting and fun explaining to people how the new voting system works. (7) You can set up a local stall in your village of town promoting the YES campaign - information and materials can be ordered through your local organiser or the Yes to Fairer Votes website. (8) You can stand as a candidate in the District/Borough Council
elections - this will help to get people out to vote and will
increase the number of voters out there who are likely to vote
YES. |
